Outdoor Solar Lights
The supplied
Kyocera photovoltaic
solar cell is rated at
1 Watt and charges a pack of 3 x 900 NiMH
AA rechargeable batteries. From a full charge, this battery pack will power the lights for 5-6 hours* when on continuously, or 10-12 hours when flashing. The solar panel also acts as a
light detector turning the lights on automatically when it is dark outside.
*
To increase the maximum lit time of these lights, the installed rechargeable batteries can eaily be replaced with other AA NiMH rechargeables with a higher capacity - e.g. 2,900mAh rather than the supplied 900mAh, however as the solar panel would struggle to charge larger capacity batteries fully in one day, you would need to manually switch the lights off every other night to enable a full charge.
The lights and solar panel have an
IP44 outdoor weatherproof rating, and so they can be safely left outside all year round.
There are 8 different
light effects available which are selecting using a push button on the rear of the solar panel module. The effects are named as follows: combination, waves, sequential, slo-glo, chasing/flash, slow fade, twinkle/flash, and static.
A
ground stake is provided which screws into the rear of the solar module. This stake can then be pushed into the ground where the
solar panel will be in direct sunshine all day - ideally facing South or a little west of South to maximise battery charging.
